About the Chef:

I have been experimenting with healthy cooking since attending college in the '80's. After gaining the "freshman 15" in the dorms, I moved into an apartment and began "trimming the fat". Despite being active in several different sports, the high fat dorm food destroyed me. My mother always cooked healthy (thank goodness) and that gave me a good base for cooking healthy for myself. I continued my normal exercise regime and soon returned back to a healthy weight, which I have maintained ever since.

Now with two young children, I strive to provide healthy meals for them. They are my official "taste testers" as I continue to experiment with new recipes.

With a B.A. Degree in Communications and an M.S. Degree in Recreation Administration, I worked for 18 years in the field of Parks and Recreation. Working full-time and coming home to more work - cooking for my family - I felt I never really had quality time to spend with them. I did menu planning and grocery shopping on the weekends, which again, took precious time away from my family. In 2007, I decided to carve a career out for myself that allowed me to spend more time with my family. I have always loved to cook so I enrolled in the Cascade Culinary Institute at COCC right here in Central Oregon. I wanted to help people and families with their cooking needs, menu planning, grocery shopping, etc. so that they could spend more TIME with each other. I created Healthy Bites Personal Chef Services in 2009 and have never looked back.
